Why do you say that the 9 of Pentacles is tied to Aquarius and Gemini when you also say it's related to dates in early to mid September? Pentacles are Earth and the dates you give are related to Virgo. But you don't mention Virgo. You only mention Aquarius and Gemini? Just wondering how this card is Air. Thanks!
And that’s a valid question which I will explain from my experience as a card reader.
You are correct that it's an earth card and relates to people/timing of Virgo, but that's only looking at the card in isolation.
Pentacles = the third dimension (physicality) or money/finances and in my experience, the 9 of Pentacles is one of the only cards which acts differently from just an “earth” card.
First, its a nine. All nines are related to The Hermit card - so 9 Swords, 9 Cups, etc.
A nine card is about the focus on completion of events. And 9s ask you to stop, contemplate where you’ve been and what/where is the next step.
How it relates to air is that when you get up around the 9s, the energy changes to the airy part of other suits (airy part of fire, airy part of earth, airy part of water, etc.) Since air is associated with thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, communication - the “airy part of Earth” signifies that one has used their intelligence and communication skills to attain something. One cannot do this if they do not have the capacity to formulate concrete ideas, learn a subject or communicate those ideas/subject. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. Uranus (modern day ruler of Aquarius) in this case, is all about inventiveness, the “loner”, the higher ideals, the humanitarian. Mercury (Gemini) is all about commerce (sales/negotiations/contracts) and Saturn (ancient ruler of Aquarius) is all about building structures or in the case of the finances - building wealth that lasts.
If you look at the keywords - both upright and reversed - you can see how these energies are applicable. For as long as I have been reading cards (which is about 25 years) each and every time the 9 of Pentacles has appeared in a spread, the person that I have read for has reached some sort of “mastery” in their chosen profession. They typically have been engaged in some type of employment that pays very well. And 8 times out 10, they usually have been associated with computers/electronics in some way (Mercury/Uranus), but this too is not always the case. Once I read for someone who worked in the field of finance and was very, very successful.
But these persons have all tended to be very high-minded, altruistic and even philanthropic is some way AND/OR they have come into some unexpected finances like an inheritance/severance/payout.
So you don’t have to be a Virgo, nor does the energy of this card have to happen during the two week dates of September. The person can be any zodiac sign and the recognition/reward can happen at anytime.
I hope this explains why I’ve given the card a designation representing air rather than the expected earth energy. Never take a single card at it's face value - meaning don't assume that just because it's a certain suit - that there’s only one interpretation for it. The Tarot really doesn't work like that. All things in their own divine right time.
