Hello Travelers.
First please accept my apologies for this being a date late. Spent all day at the computer yesterday attempting to write but somehow kept getting sidetracked.
The card for this week is the 9 of Swords. It relates to both people and timing from 8th - 14th of November. The planetary rulers of this card are Mercury and Venus and of course is a number 9.
Nines represent a momentary pause with an eye towards completion. It is the energy of being able to stop for a moment and consider all that has come before and to contemplate what needs to be done going forward.
It is a swords card. Swords represent thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, ideas and communications. It is an Air card - so think of all the things that can be “transmitted” through the air or how energy floats and exists on the mental plane.
The imagery of this card suggest someone who is having nightmares or insomnia. The suggested story behind the card is that of a woman who has lost her entire male family and worries that there will be no one to take care of her.
Personally, this image reminds me of what it is like when you become a prisoner of your own imagination. The swords on the wall are like a ladder - one in which we can either climb down into our own minds or climb up and out.
Astrologically we are all under the influence of Mars in Gemini, who - incidentally is now retrograde. Mars entered Gemini 21 August and will remain there until 26 March 2023. He will be retrograding until 12 January 2023 when he turns direct to travel back through the previous degrees from whence he came.
If youd don’t know already, Gemini rules the third house of the natural zodiac. Gemini rules over short distance travel (planes, trains, automobiles, bikes and motorcycles), texts, emails, the post/postman, phone calls, faxes, the internet and social media. Mars, the God of War brings, anger, heat, speed, “red”, blood. He represents activity, assertiveness, agreesion, conflicts, fights, war, betrayal, insurrections, unrest and epidemics. Mars can be “scorched earth” with no compassion. Of note: There’s another tropical storm in the Atlantic set to move into Florida - on Election Day (and this falls under short distance travel as people will be going to the polls.)
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen Twitter go haywire, Mastadon rise in prominence, strange election polls information, several mass shootings, an attempted assassination, fighting, wars of word on the internet, mass layoffs across the “internet” world, a mad man in South Korea has sent off almost 30 missiles and folk being confused by all the noise in the air. Let’s not forget the global financial cliff we’re all teetering on the edge of - all as we begin to move into the start of winter.
The 9 of Swords is a collective energy in this card of the week. I feel that a large majorit of the world’s population is stressed, tired and frightened. We are or at least will at some point over the next few months - be worried, lose sleep and wonder “what will become of me/us?”
One of the interpretations of this card is that it may be an indication of despair and anxiety with a sense of hopelessness being prevalent. But another interpretation ask that we be patient as better things will be coming soon. It asks that we not try to rush things as we will hinder our own progress and to maintain faith and trust.
This last sentence - I know - may be difficult and even burdensome. But the card also asks that we be prepared for the 10 of Swords to appear - the culmination of all “dark energy” finally dissipating into the Ace. And while we are counseled to not rush things, we can help our Ace manifest a bit faster by being kind to each other.
Say hello, give a stranger a smile, pay something forward, offer assistance, listen and my most favorite - offer hugs. These little acts of kindness can mean the world to others and in turn give some nurturing to ourselves and own souls.
Above all, if you find yourself struggling at this time, reach out to someone. You are not alone. Take the necessary steps to help your own mental wellbeing.
Until when.
Be Good To Yourselves.
Tara, xx
