Hey there Travelers.
Here we are heading into the second month of February 2022! Just 30 some-odd-days-ago - we were all waiting for the end of 2021.
No doubt, the past two years have been difficult - isolation, outbreaks, outmoded concepts of socializing, confusing protocols and procedures - it’s all enough to make one just want to throw up their hands or pull out their hair and scream.
But you know what? You should pat yourself on the back. Life has not been easy for any of us these past two years. Everything we knew or thought we knew now needs to be reassessed and I’ve been thinking about this - the reassessment of all that involves my life and while I don’t have all the answers, I have been trying to think on the bright side.
In the Before Times we basically went through life doing the same-old things, in the same-old manner, with the same-old people. Most of us never gave any thought to “what would happen - if”. Now in the New Normal Times, we have figured out ways to navigate an ever changing landscape - one day masks mandates, the next day - none; one day 10 days quarantine, the next day - five…you get the idea.
Yet, for all the chaos, confusion, delays, stagnation and uncertainty, we - the lucky ones - are still here. Many people have not survived the past two years - with many more losing their lives to the virus now.
Many have contracted Covid-19 and survived - but now may be experiencing “Long Covid” and many have contracted the virus not once, but twice and many of us do what we can to keep safe.
Life as we once knew it is no longer recognizable. It is a new landscape, a new environment, a new world - all with ever changing variables…this is a situation which requires tactfulness, diplomacy, truthfulness, honesty, quick wit and the ability to make firm decisions. So I will introduce you to your Card of the Month:
Queen of Swords.
All Kings and Queens of a suit are the “airy” part of their suits. For example, the Queen of Wands is the “airy part” of Fire.
Here, the Queen of Swords is the “airy part” of Air. The term “airy part” only means that in order to reach the stage/level of a king or queen requires thoughts/perceptions/beliefs/communications. Kings and Queens have lived enough life and had enough experiences that they can employ critical thinking skills.
When this queen appears in a reading as a person, she traditionally represents a widowed/divorced or a woman who chooses to live alone. It is often implied that she is bitter and sorrowful because of this, but I beg to differ - I am divorced and choose to live alone, but in no way am I bitter or sad - so YMMV (your mileage may vary) with the traditionally interpretation.
As a person she is mentally sharp, quick witted, decisive and can provide clear, objective advice.
As a profession she is anyone who employs the use of sharp tools/implements or keen intellect to get the job done.
In her most negative aspect as a person she can be someone who wounds with her tongue and is very sarcastic and can even enjoy inflicting both mental and physical pain on others.
As an upright situational card, she can imply that that keen perception, intuition and wise advise can assist you with in uncomfortable situation. As a reversed situational card, it warns that you should keep your own counsel and not share any information with anyone as someone might be pretending to be your friend and they are not.
However, there is a third way in which to view the Queen of Swords which can apply to all sexes. The Queen of Swords represents the sign of Libra and is ruled by the planet Venus.
Libra is about pairs and opposites and Venus is about right relationships. Libra or the 7th house in natural astrology rule your relationships - boyfriends, friends, spouses and partners. It can even rule business relationships and while we are taught that Venus rules love and beauty, there’s more to Venus than that.
In order to have any success in relationships, we need to be able to convince others that there’s something positive in it for them. We need to show them the attractiveness of the thing, put them at ease by creating a balance harmony. By doing this, we secretly tap into the other party’s values and/or value systems.
Here’s an example: there’s a company who makes a widget and they offer it to for free if you sign up. So you sign up and start using the using. But what the company never told you was that in order to create this widget and offer it for free, they have to destroy the habitat of some very rare and endangered animals in the eco-chain.
Your dilemma: Do you continue using the widget simply because it’s free or do you decide that even free, it’s not worth killing those rare, endangered animals?
This is what is meant by your values and value systems and as we move through these New Present Times, you will be called upon to make decisions that align with your value and value systems. It will require intuition and keen perception but more than anything it will require firm decisions - firm decisions on how you choose to move through life at this time.
So while there’s much white noise about what to do and what not to do - you should tune all this out and decide for yourself and based upon your own value/value system, what is right and wrong for you. I mean, it is YOUR LIFE. So the question becomes who are you living your life for? If you decide that living your life for others is a good thing, then you’ll forever be pulled and tugged in many directions. However, if you decide that you’re living your life for yourself, then you can more easily “stay-the-course” - regardless of what obstacles or hindrances come your way.
Living life for yourself removes the fear of what -ifs and how comes. How? Because you are in control of the decisions. You get to decide to move or not, parry or thrust. And when you do this, it removes the opportunity for other forces to dictate your choices.
I like the Queen of Swords even though she gets a bad rep. She is forthright, clear-eyed and knows that if she ever has a doubt, she can utilize her keen intellect to find solutions. She is always seeking truth - her own truth because as we know - your truth may differ from another’s truth.
This last is very important in these divisive times. To utilize the positive qualities of this queen in these divisive times, don’t try to beat, cut or stab others with your truth. Try to be diplomatic and tactful. And if ever you find yourself on the receiving end of the negative qualities of this queen - disengage and move the hell away. No sense in getting beaten, cut or stab if it doesn’t align with your values or value systems. Save that energy and apply it somewhere else.
