This is the last Full Moon of autumn.
It is also known as the Beaver Moon but for the sake of this article we’ll call it the Full Moon in Gemini opposing the Sun in Sagittarius.
The two houses involved are the 3rd house and the 9th house. Of course Full Moons to invite us to find a better balance between the two sides involved. In this case they are Gemini and Sagittarius.
Sagittarius: the higher expression of Sagittarius includes being straightforward, generous, enthusiastic, ethical, fun and optimistic. The lower expression can involve being overly blunt, a jack-of-all-trades and master of none, self indulgent and self righteous.
Gemini: the lower expression of Gemini may mean being scattered, impatient, overly talkative and unemotional. The higher expression includes being flexible, curious, a lover of learning, bright and communicative.
There may be a feeling of a shift in the wind when it comes to the energy “swirling” around us right now, and although there are still intense energies present, there should be a lightening as we move into the end of November and December.
With this Full Moon we are asked to evaluate if we have a balance between the two signs. Think of it like the Gemini Full Moon is a time when we need to make sure we are seeing both the forest (Sagittarius) and the trees (Gemini). For example:
In one or more areas of our lives, it could be that we have lost the wider perspective because we are overly forced to focus on the details. If we get bogged down in minutia, we may lose sight of why we want to go in a particular direction and/or what it might be able to provide us.
Conversely - we may know exactly where we want to go, but we have been avoiding the pesky details. Without a solid foundation that takes care of “the basics”, the bigger picture cannot fully developed or serve us in the long run.
We are still in a close Mars conjunction to the Sun, just as we were two weeks ago. But because this is a Full Moon, that means that the Moon is an opposition to both at the Sun and Mars. This is not bad news - on the contrary - this can be good news because the red planet can provide us with the energy encourage we need in order to find the better balance described above and make necessary changes. Although the Moon is in opposition to Mars (which happens once a month) - it is important for all of us to be aware that we could find ourselves (and others) feeling pretty cranky. Mood swings and impatience are possible, and even small issues could trigger a strong emotional responses. All of this may lead to arguments that could be quite productive or might be totally pointless.
The two ends of this opposition (i.e., Sun/Mars and Moon) are all squaring Saturn creating a T-square. Yet, t-squares can motivate us to take action. Saturn tells us that although Mars wants to act impulsively, the more mature and responsible approach is to slow down and make sure we are ready to move forward in a particular direction. Yes, Saturn is dull and boring but he recognizes the importance of “dotting all the I’s and crossing all the T’s” - and Gemini loves this! It also support us in seeing “the bigger picture” (the purview of Sagittarius) because it wants to make sure any changes actually contributes to the creation of a solid foundation.
But Mars just recently moved into Sagittarius, which is a fire sign. It began its transit on 24 November which was this past Friday and will continue into Sagittarius through for January 2024. Mars in a fire sign wants to go fast and Sagittarius is saying “full steam ahead!” But Saturn wants to put a temporary damper on the party - feeling like an old, wet blanket. You may feel compelled to move forward quickly due to all the fiery energy but, you need to consciously pull is the proverbial reins of the horse. This is one of those times when you have to remember take a deep breath. It will be very helpful. It is quite likely that the direction we want to move in will work out well ,but success is more likely if we let Saturn use his wisdom and discipline to support us on the way to a new goal.
You may have a bit of help because Saturn is currently moving through Pisces and this can “soften the harder edges” of the sometimes (oftentimes) over-controlling Saturn. But remember you do need to see things clearly. The combination of reality (Saturn) add fantasy (Pisces) can sometimes blur your view of the situation. Pisces can increase our ability to tap into our intuition; additionally having Saturn in Pisces means that some of us will begin to take our spiritual work more seriously - especially if it's our passion.
We also find Mercury and Sagittarius at the time of this Full Moon. This is where the higher expression of Sagittarius can be very open-minded and tolerant of different viewpoints. It can be a live-and-let-live approach which can support diplomatic solutions to conflicts. But if it is the lower expression - it can find one being self-righteous and pushing beliefs on others. Sagittarius is also known for being overly blunt - so before speaking or writing, take a moment to breathe deeply and think especially if it involves a particularly, touchy subject.
Actually this is one of the times when you are well advised to choose your battle carefully because what you are perceiving may not be totally accurate. That is due to the Mars square Neptune, which can fog up the lenses of the glasses through which you are viewing the world. Something may seem very real when it may not be. We may also find that we misunderstand what others are trying to express and there is a good likelihood that others will misunderstand us. But there is a positive side to this aspect - if we allow it to work it's magic, it can produce compassionate words, increase manifesting abilities and provide inspiration that helps clarify our understanding about important issues in our lives.
There is also a close quincunx (150°) between Venus and Uranus. You may need to rethink something related to your relationships and/or your finances especially if either issue feels like it's impinging on your desires or felt sense of freedom. Quincunxes are never easy - they can often leave you feeling conflicted because they require uncomfortable adjustments that do not feel like a win-win situation. Both sides would need to give up something in order to get what BOTH sides want. For example Uranus tells us to embrace change and let go of the past yet, Venus tells us that we shouldn't forget to honor what we value and what we desire.
Some other transits that you need to know about:
Mercury Transit: 1 December, Mercury leaves Sagittarius and enters the heavier energy of Capricorn - *AND* begins its final retrograde of 2023. Tuesday 12 September, Mercury backs up into Sagittarius on 23 December and then returns to Capricorn in the middle of January 2024. This can seem like a particularly long transit and I will post another article about Mercury retrograde - I'm sure that you have read much about it - but there are some tips and tricks that I like to share with you. So stay tuned.
Venus Transit: Monday, 4 December through Friday, 29th of December Venus will enter Scorpio. During this time you may feel inclined to explore the underlying motivations within a relationship or to discover if the relationship has the potential of going deeper (or not). Superficial contacts/ interactions are not satisfying and you may feel a longing for intimacy and/or long-lasting relationships. This intensity also applies to finances or anything you desire in life.
Neptune Transit: Finally on Wednesday, December 6, Neptune ends its annual retrograde phase and starts direct motion again. Unlike other planets the more positive expression of Neptune occurs when it is in retrograde. In direct motion, we tend to have a harder time seeing things clearly because the fog rolls in and can obscure our view. You may also find it a bit harder to tap into your intuition or compassion. Whatever we been dreaming about or imagining since the first part of July - when Neptune went retrograde - may start to come to fruition in the coming weeks and months. Take care that you don't jump into a project without making sure that all of your proverbial ducks-are-in-a-row, and the Full Moon in Gemini can help with that.
To sum up, the energy of this Gemini Full Moon will likely feel lighter than the last month (or two). Some of you can successfully forge a new path as long as you are willing to use Saturn’s wisdom to slow the proverbial train down long enough to ensure the foundation of your new endeavor is realistic. Self-discipline and setting healthy boundaries maybe very important right now. Given that the Gemini Sagittarius axis is involved (3rd/9th houses) many of you will be eager to learn new things and share those inside with others.
However, due to the increased emotionality at the time of this Full Moon - and several tricky aspects - we should speak carefully and only after careful consideration. Like The Temperance card in the Tarot, moderation in all of our projects *and* many of our conversations may be the key to success right now.
Thank you Tara for your insight into the planets and their energies upon us. I appreciate both your intuition, your tarot skills, and astrology skills to help us understand the effects upon us humans. I send you blessings for better health and wealth. Sincerely, Yolanda
Thank you for those kind, kind words. 😀
