Tomorrow, 28 October. With the Sun in Scorpio the Moon will be in opposition and the sign of Taurus. The Full Moon invite us to find a better balance between the qualities are the two signs - this time the signs are Scorpio and Taurus.
Scorpio: the best qualities of Scorpio include intensity, passion, transformation depth and healing. The lower expression can involve being vengeful, intolerant, overbearing and secretive.
Taurus: the higher expression of Taurus includes being responsible, reliable, down-to-earth, sensual, patient and loyal. The lower expression can means being resistant to change, stubborn, strong-willed and overly cautious.
While Scorpio tends to ferret out whatever needs to be brought out of the darkness and into the light, Taurus prefers a world filled with predictability, serenity calm and peace. Although Scorpio likes to be “in the dark” this can be done in order to facilitate deep transformation and healing. Think of it like having a delightful aha moment when the sunshine breaks through the rain clouds - only to be blindsided by totally unexpected issues there are revealed about one or more parties that would have preferred they stayed hidden.
Taurus on the other hand enjoys the moment - smelling the roses or feeling the sun on its back makes the bull very happy; unlike Scorpio who believes that in order to attain peace sometimes uncomfortable truth are best ignored or avoided.
Neither approach is incorrect. In fact, both are needed at certain times in our lives. This Taurus Full Moon is reminding us that we need to find a balance between them for a happy healthy life. Healing sometimes requires a deep dive (Scorpio) to face some uncomfortable truths but once the deep dive is over, we need to come back to the surface and take a break - to breathe, meditate or whatever will lead to the enjoyment our earthly (Taurus) experiences. The key is to find balance.
This Full Moon is also a partial lunar eclipse. Eclipses come in pairs and the time around the annual solar eclipse coincides with something that serves as a catalyst for what will unfold in the following six months - a type of “wake up call”. A partial eclipse is not as powerful as a full eclipse but it's still else up the energy associated with the lunar event. Back on 14 October, we had a full solar eclipse this means that most of October and part of November or under the influence of the current eclipse season.
During eclipse season we can become aware that something in our lives need to change in order for the soul to progress to is next lesson. Solar eclipses usually coincide with new beginnings or when decisions are made. Conversely, lunar eclipses are usually a culmination point or an ending, so it is understandable that they are often very emotional times.
Having the moon located in Taurus may help soften any emotional reactions. It can also provide the determination many of us will need in order to tap into a softer energy. That’s because at the time of this Full Moon, Pluto will be squaring both the Sun and the Moon. This pesky, little geometric configuration is known as a T-square - with Pluto being a focal planet. Sun square Pluto is known to illicit power struggles and impatience. But you can use the energy to learn about your personal power and becoming more effective without having to force your way to get what you want. Moon square Pluto might mean that a previously hidden emotional issue is revealed. It can also mean that we are emotionally unwilling to let someone or something go - even if he/she/it has met its proverbial expiration date.
But there are other aspects at play - the Sun will be conjunct both Mercury and Mars - all of them in the fixed sign of Scorpio. The Moon is conjunct Jupiter and both of those are in the fixed sign of Taurus. Finally, the Sun-Mercury-Mars conjunction is in opposition to the conjunction between Moon and Jupiter.
In sum that’s five different oppositions in fixed signs and fixed signs often means that we want to dig in our heels and hold firm to our beliefs approaches even when there e may be evidence pointing to a better option. That's a whole lot of powerful and potentially stubborn energy and means that we really have to dig deep to find the high expression which can include having that determination a mental focus to find compromises that lead to a best course of action. We must advocate for bravely, self-confidently and actively (Mars) be thinking about or communicating (Mercury) something that we've already been avoiding for a while. We may” feel ready to “stand up” and express ourselves and Jupiter could help turn things around for the best because he brings wisdom, maturity, optimism and a bit of good luck.
Lastly I would like to speak about the many current astrological indicators that can be applied to recent national and go what events:
Through much of September and into early October, Mars (the warrior) was in a square Pluto (power).
Tuesday 11 October, Pluto began moving direct again which intensified its energy and then on Thursday 12 October, Mars entered Scorpio.
Thereafter we all experienced a very potent total solar eclipse on Saturday 14 October.
All the conflicted and polarizing energy has been impacting many people, groups and nations - and -it is clear that the same event can elicit very different opinions. Recently people have been feeling the impact of all this energy and have chosen the lower expression of these astrological events with forms of violent rhetoric even acts of violence. And yet - we must keep in mind that Pluto often brings hidden issues or secrets to the surface - which is a theme that is prominent in the news.
But if we choose the higher expression of Taurus at the time of this Full Moon, it can move us towards stability, practicality and security. The sign of the bull also provides perseverance that can help us move through obstacles by focusing on what is really important. We must make a conscious effort on our part. We are all being given opportunity to access this Taurean energy which could lead to a deep, nourishing well of calm and peace.
Yet - I am not so “rose glasses” - because I realize this may not be easy. Taurus is a fixed sign and the lower expression can result in being inflexible and resistant to needed change. This often due to a need to be in control and Pluto can exacerbate that need by using force to regain a sense of “control over the uncontrollable”.
And finally:
On Saturday 4 November, Saturn ends it's annual retrograde phase in Pisces and turns direct motion again. During the weeks immediately preceding and following the change of direction, we may feel as if the energy on Earth is a bit more heavier a more serious. Many of us we will feel ready to make decisions or changes that we have been contemplating during the four months when Saturn was moving retrograde.
Then on Wednesday November 8, Venus begins a four-week transit in her home sign of Libra (ending 5 December). This can make us feel much more focused in creating peace and harmony in our relationships - being cooperative and working as part of a team is often preferred to working alone, but we need to be careful not to sacrifice I own needs in order to maintain the peace.
As always - Be Good To Yourselves.
Tara, xo
Thank you.
What a strange night. Plumbing began to screech at 5 in the morning. Had to turn off the water stopcock. And then I dreamed I was trying to warn ( a very angry) Lawrence of Arabia (!) of an impending "cavalry attack." But The Knight of Wands meant tanks.
