Locate 10° of Libra in your chart and whichever house it is, this will be the area of life that might be most affected by this New Moon’s presence.
As usual, New Moons provide us an opportunity for a fresh emotional start in the area that is associated with the sign and Libra is the sign we are focused on.
The higher expression of Libra may include being diplomatic, cooperative, social, gracious and patient. The lower expression may include being indecisive, dependant and overly-focused on the need for harmony and balance.
Libra is one of the cardinal signs and also an air sign. Cardinal energy wants to get going, lead or start something. The air energy wants to connect mentally so making connections, forming relationships and partnerships is right up Libra’s alley. This is why Libra is considered such a social sign. Libra loves to make connections with others, especially if the conversations are gracious and mentally stimulating.
Libra also wants everything to be exquistely balanced in life - no matter if its our relationships or something in our environment. That’s why the Scales of Justice or the Scales of Balance says so much about this sign.
Where the Lunar Eclispe two weeks ago was associated with culminations or endings, with this Libra New Moon Solar Eclipse will often coincide with new beginnings. If we follow the belief that the more sunshine available then we are able to see things clearly - it all comes into focus. So, if decisions made 2 weeks ago were about endings, then now we can see glimpses of a new path or fresh start.
Falling in the sign of Libra, this eclipse should provide no shortage of conversations about whatever new direction(s) are calling to us. New and mutually beneficial partnerships - of any kind - are possible. If there have been long-standing disagreements/arguments or relationship problems, now could be a time when they could be resolved - in a mutually agreeable, diplomatic manner. Both parties might feel “it’s time to let the issue go.” But remember: with an eclispe, the impact could last over a 6-month period. Diplomacy will be needed both now and in the coming months. The goal should be to find that win-win solution so the result can include increased harmony.
While during this 6-month phase, this type of equilibrium may be difficult to acheive. Both Sun and Moon will be square (90°) to (a) Mars in Cancer, (b) conjunct the South Node and in OPPOSITION (180°) to the North Node - what this could mean is that emotionally charged issuse (Mars) from the past (South Node) may come up to be healed because they are hampering our progress towards the future (North Node). This is NEVER an easy process, but it is an IMPORTANT one.
But what if we feel as though our words or actions are about to light a fuse that could result in a devastating explosion? Then we will need to chose wisely and take a step back to explore our available options - look into alternatives that we haven’t yet considered. This Libra energy has the ability to find solutions. But we will also need to remember that if we find ourselves blaming others, it may be good to take a look in the mirror and make sure we aren’t projecting something outward that really is our own issue (something we aren’t accepting within ourselves or a trigger from something past).
A further focus on relationships is emphasized by Mercury in Libra being in an exact conjunction (0°) to the Sun and Moon. This can help our conversations flow harmoniously because we will want to find a way to talk things through. If we aren’t quite ready to engage with the person involved, then other beneficial options might include journaling, counseling or speaking with an objective friend. Talking things through is important because Sun-Moon in relationship oriented Libra, are both squaring (90°) Mars - the planet of action, but also the “Warrior Planet”. This square is telling us that changes ma be needed in our relationships/partnerships and this could include asserting our needs or setting healthier boundaries. If the issues are left to fester, then this square could result in pent-up anger and/or resentment.
There will be a suppportive trine (120°) between Mercury in Libra and Juptier in Gemini and this should likely help conversations go smoothly and brainstorming sessions can be very productive We may even hear some good news. Optimism and clarity should benefit all our social contacts - happening at the time of the Solar Eclipse may impact us for several months to come. However, beware because this Mercury-Jupiter trine can cause us to say too much - either in terms of quantity or quality. Whatever words we choose, can have long term consequences, so we SHOULD think before we speak.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse we will have another grand trine configuration however, this time the configuration will be in the element of water.
The three planets involved are Venus in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces. Grand trines provide positive, free-flowing energy between the planets involved. Trines can be an easily missed energy so try to make use of it because like all astrological aspescts and configurations, there can be good news and bad news associated.
Good news: The watery flow of action (Mars), love (Venus) and responsibility (Saturn) can provide a good deal of support for positive experiences in relationships. It can also have a positive impact on our creative endeavors and financial plans.
Bad news: The shadow side of these planets can mean experiencing emotional, knee-jerk reactions to an event that could motivate us to swoop in and try to rescue, take care of or “save” someone when it might not be in their best interest or your own. Everyone is responsible for their own work. Try to keep the co-dependency feels in check.
Planetary Movements
22 September was the Fall Equinox and on that same day Venus moved into Scorpio. We may have found decisions more difficult because we tried to see all sides of a situation and finding ourselves approaching life in a more passionate manner, particularly as it relates to our finances, creative activities and our relationships. We may have felt the need to “go deep” - mindless chit-chat and superficial interactions are dissatisfying. But Mercury in Libra happening tomorrow, 26 September should bring more peaceful thoughts, words and interactions. But Mercury will only be in Libra through 13 October. During that time we may be more able to see both sides of any situation, bringing diplomacy but also making decisions a little harder.
Big Retrograde and Direct Movements
Wednesday, 9 October 2024 through to 4 February 2025.
Jupiter begins his 4-month retrograde backwards through Gemini. We might take the time to review and reflect upon our belief systems. We may find that some tweaks are needed. Traveling backwards, our focus could turn inwards as Jupiter exactly sextiles (60°) Chiron. Any inner reflection has the potential for deep healing - in fact, profound insights are possible.
Then it’s the BIG ONE we’ve all been waiting for:
Friday, 11 October 2024 Pluto goes direct in Carpricorn! This will be the FINAL transit through Capricorn in your lifetime. He will spend a few more weeks in the sign of The Goat - returning to Aquarius 19 November 2024 - where he will REMAIN until 2044.
(Personally, I don’t know about you, but I will be glad to see the back of him. Having a 29° Capricorn ASC - the years that he’s spent in this sign -since 2008 - have been difficult for me.)
The final weeks of Pluto in Capricorn is a time when we may wrap up any issues related to the structures in our lives - both personal and societal. We want to make sure that we have a solid foundation upon which to move forward into all the changes likely when Pluto makes his move into Aquarius. Pluto is about truth and power (or truth-to-power, if you’d like) - so power issues around what we believe to be “true” may come into focus during this time.
Smaller Moves
Sunday, October 13, 2024 - Sunday, 3 November 2024. Mercury will leave Libra and enter the secretive sign of Scorpio. (THIS MOVEMENT THROUGH SCORPIO COINCIDES WITH THE FINAL DAYS LEADING UP TO THE US ELECTION, 5 NOVEMBER 2024.) While Mercury was in Libra, we may have sought harmony however, once in Scorpio, our thoughts and communication (Mercury) may become intense and passionate. Certainly, we may be seeking the “truth” and won’t be afraid to look under rocks and into dark corners (where Scorpions like to hide) in order to find it. Our minds may become sharp and analytical, yet there is also a deeply intuitive side. Be careful though with the energy of Mercury in Scorpio - I’ve known it to cause some people to get caught up in conspiracy theories and cults. (I think that is vitally important to remember because of the timing around the American Presidential Elections.) So while we want to get to the heart of the matter, it can sometimes lead to an obsessive focus.
17 October 2024 - 15 November 2024. Venus will ingress into Sagittarius (again, this overlaps election day). Having Venus in Sagittarius could ease some tensions described above because it can bring an uplifting, free-spirited energy into our lives. With this fire sign, there could be some intense, passionate moments in our relationships/partnerships, finances, creative activities - or anything that we may desire. Yet, Sagittarius is known for being very blunt at times, so we should be careful not to blurt out our thoughts before thinking the through. Optimism, truth and meaning take center stage and we may be more comfortable than usual opening ourselves to new perspectives.
This is Eclipse Season. The Pisces FM Lunar eclispe and the Libra New Moon Solar Eclispe is about plowing the fields to make ready for new crops to be planted. There will certainly be unexpected events that may occur around these eclipse dates which may prompt changes that will take up to 6-months to unfold. So here are some things that you may want to focus on:
Healing relationship issues will be big
Be courageous when dealing with difficult issues.
Know when to temporarily withdraw to cool down.
Try to recognize what may have triggered you.
Think through the best course of action to resolve the issues.
Release any and all stagnant energy.
Be open to new and exciting opportunities.
Have faith, inner strength and courage.
We can do this!!!
Until next time. Remember to Be Good to Yourselves.
Tara, xx
I too can’t wait for the end of Pluto in Cap and his hanging around degree 29. That one will be a bigger deal than New Year’s. Of course then comes Mars retrograde, right?
Terrific overview, thanks!
