17- 18, September 2024, there will be the double feature of a lunar eclipse and Pisces Full Moon.
First, I’d like to tell you a bit about eclipses. This Pisces Full Moon is a (partial) lunar eclipse - all this means is that the Sun, Earth and the Moon aren’t exactly lined up, so only a part of the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow (or umbra) making the shadow grow then recede without ever fully covering the Moon.
The second thing you need to know is that eclipses come in pairs, two weeks apart. Always. So we are entering Eclipse Season. The next eclipse will be 2 October, 2024. It will be a Libra New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse. We’ll come back to that in a week.
17 - 18 September* at 9:34 am (CST) we find the Sun 25° Virgo opposing the Moon 25° Pisces. Where ever you have Virgo and Pisces in your natal chart, these two houses may be impacted by this Full Moon. (*dates and time zone depend upon your location on the globe)
Full Moons always provide us with the opportunity to check-in and evaluate how we may be balancing these two separate areas of our lives.
Virgo is often associated with physical health and keywords might include: being practical, efficient, analytical, precise and health conscious. If associated with the lower expression: picky, constant worrying, stressed.
Pisces is often associated with psychological and/or spiritual health and keywords might include: being charitable, meditation, spiritual practices. If associated with the lower expression: isolation, escape, self-imposed limits.
Lunar eclipses are often more emotional the solar eclipses and will often coincide with endings or culminations. So when we are rushing around in daily lives, we may overlook, miss or ignore certain things. Around the time of a Lunar eclipse, we may “suddenly see the truth” about a situation. Those overlooked issues suddenly jump out in front of us and bring their presence to the fore. Don’t worry that you may not experience something right at the time of the eclipse; this awareness of a needed change may unfold over the next few days or months. Trust that alignment is Divine Timing.
There are some spiritual overtones around this Lunar eclipse - that’s because Neptune will be conjunct (0°) the Full Moon. But we also will have an Earth Grand Trine with Sun, Uranus and Pluto making a 120° trine to each other in the signs of Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn, respectively. However, this is a special grand trine because the Sun is in opposition (180°) to the Moon and Neptune *and* Moon and Neptune are sextiling (60°) to the other two planets of Uranus and Pluto. This configuration is called a kite, with the Moon and Neptune acting as a string of tail of the kite. This allows for the expression of this grand trine’s energy.
Although this sounds very complex, the bottom line is that grand trines are very positive and supportive, especially with the kite formation. What this really means is the grand trine amplifies the spiritual component to this Full Moon. Being an earth grand trine means that there is a lot of grounded energy. Practical changes are very possible now, especially if they increase our sense of independence, freedom and spiritual connectedness and having the involvement of the Sun, Uranus and Pluto means we may have the willpower (Sun) to make transformational (Pluto) changes (Uranus) that could lead to a very workable fresh start.
A healthy balance between our physical and spiritual bodies will be important during this time. Typically, this means determining whether or not we are taking actions that are aligned with our spiritual beliefs - both privately and socially. The questions you might want to ask yourself are:
Am I engaging in a spiritual practice(s) that grounds my body and feeds my soul?
Am I engaging with others in a way that honors my body’s needs while also serving the greater good?
Because this is occurring during a Lunar Eclipse, we may suddenly realize that in order to achieve this alignment, something may need to end. This could be a way of thinking, behavioral pattern(s) or anything that limits our independence/freedom(s); harms us physically/emotionally/spiritually and /or does not inspire us to be our best selves and use our natural gifts to serve humanity.
That the tail of the kite formation is the conjunction (0°) between Moon-Neptune, our intuitive abilities will likely be heightened at this time. Divine messages could come to us through psychic impressions (the Clair Senses) but we should also be open to information from unusual sources such as: memories that suddenly come back to us, chance encounters, dreams/daydreams, etc.
But beware - not everything that happens in our lives will be a “message from the Divine”. A Moon-Neptune conjunction could be about delusions, illusions, deceptions and trickery. If something does come to us, step back and take not only a deep breath but also look inward for confirmation. Sun in Virgo and the Moon-Neptune conjunction means it is more likely that discernment (Virgo) should let us “know” when it is important to really pay attention. And if we miss anything that our Spirit Team thinks is important and critical to our progress, then we can trust that the message will repeat itself. TRUST IN THE DIVINE is an important lesson now.
And knowing when to take a break/time-out, is particularly important at the time of this lunar event because there is an exact opposition (180°) between Mercury and Saturn and this could result in being overly-pessimistic, feeling sad and/or engaging in excessive self-criticism or worry - especially if we become very tired or overwhelmed by life. Taking a break can help us regroup and recenter.
There are squares (90°) between Mars and North and South Nodes which reinforce the need to withdraw. A Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse increase emotionality and these squares between Mars and The Nodes could make it difficult to remain objective when dealing with an upsetting emotional issues. If we get triggered, the heightened emotional state will often cut off our intuitive abilities when we probably need them most. We may not need to detach completely, but will be better able to deal with life more effectively if we take some time to recenter (soothing self-talk or talk with someone who can assist you in regrouping/re-centering before re-engaging with a difficult situation).
Another configuration of note is Moon+Sun squaring (90°) Jupiter forming a t-square - which I’ve written about before. Jupiter is the “focal planet” of the t-square, so it’s likely that issues related to expansion will be important. If you have been holding yourself back, now will be the time to “step forward” courageously. Conversely, you may find that you have expanded too far and need to pull back, withdraw or reduce something. This may involve anything in our lives, but given the planets and signs involved, the most likely topics would be our physical/psychological health, daily habits, our thoughts and communication and/or our consumption of the news or social media.
Piscean Full Moons can often leave us feeling a bit more vulnerable and sensitive that usual. Having both the Moon and Neptune is Pisces could cause us to want to withdraw when the drama of life feels a bit too much. Sun in Virgo can help us discern when this choice is appropriate and also help us determine a way to do it that is both practical and compassionate. We don’t want to hide from life but we also don’t want to become so out of balance that we cannot successfully navigate the experiences of Life. We do not wish to over-react OR over-correct and end up regretful or overwhelmed. Sometimes the healthiest choice is to WITHDRAW for some self-reflection.
Finally, during the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse it will become important to look at expansion in terms of what steps need to be taken (or not taken) over the next 6 months, especially those that might be hindering you from achieving a better alignment between the spiritual and earthly domains.
Next up: Libra New Moon+ Annular Solar Eclipse, 2 October, 2024.
In the meantime, remember to Be Good To Yourselves.
