Hello Travelers. A very brief newsletter this evening.
This is our first New Moon of the New Year and it falls in the earth sign of Capricorn. If you have your birth chart, locate 20°44’ of Capricorn and see what house the sign occupies. This will tell your what issues will be most influenced by the New Moon. TIP: whatever sign of a New Moon/Full Moon is, always look to the house this represents within your chart.
New Moons always provide opportunities to get a fresh, new emotional start in the areas associated with the sign, whereas Full Moons are always associated with decision points and endings. But this time of New Moon, we are focused on Capricorn, The Goat.
Generally, the annual Capricorn New Moon is a time when we are ready to get organized, maybe simplify life somehow and focus in the issues of responsibilities. We now should have the motivation, energy, physical strength and focus to push through any obstacles - making progress and perhaps we’ve been contemplating some small - or maybe even big changes.
The higher expression of Capricorn includes being responsible, practical, organized, disciplined and patient. It also relates to leadership and being a hard worker.
The lower expression can lead to being overly critical, materialistic, status-seeking and too conventional.
At the time of this New Moon, we have four (4) planets in Capricorn: Pluto, Sun, Moon and Mars. These 4 out of 10 planets are chomping at the bit to get down to work, create and restructure/solidify the structures in our lives.
If you’ve felt like taking action, this is due to Mars (energy) and Pluto (power). Mars is also trining Jupiter (considered one of the best indicators for success). It also stimulates a strong desire to achieve our personal goals. However, given that the New Moon is in wide conjunction (0°) to Pluto whatever we choose to pursue may require letting go of something that lightens our load - this could be almost anything - but possibilities include physical possessions, finances, responsibilities, expectations or even goals and dreams.
Uranus (change) is quincunx (150°) the South Node and we may need to let go and make some adjustments. This indicates a time to let go of the past and embrace new goals. Uranus is also supporting the Sun and the Moon by trine and this can help us make those adjustments relative ease once we decide to move forward. But Uranus says “change or be changed” so if we don't do what is needed, then there is the possibility that changes will come from outside influences and can take a surprise.
Saturday 13 January, Mercury leaves Sagittarius and we joined the Capricorn party where it will remain until six February. This is truly a great time to be thinking about our long-range plans and the structures that we want to create in our lives. Our mental processes should be sensible, practical and down-to-earth.
In last week’s newsletter I wrote about the back-and-forth of the Pluto transit and Saturday, 20 January is an important day astrologically. It's when Pluto finishes its recent retrograde back into Capricorn and returns to the progressive sign of Aquarius. Pluto will remain in this new sign until 1 September when it once again returns for a brief visit back into Capricorn (1 September - 19 November).
On the same day Saturday 20 January, the Sun moves out of Capricorn and joins Pluto in Aquarius. The upcoming month of February should be the time of year when we are looking forward and are ready to leave behind what is outdated. Our actions may be more inventive, innovative an unconventional during other times of the year. We may feel the need for freedom and individuality and are not afraid to explore new ways of doing things. We may even become interested in expanding our social networks by participating in larger friendship groups and/or humanistic endeavors.
This New Moon in Capricorn is providing us with the energy, determination and focus to get organized. This may require making responsible, carefully-consider decisions, to let go of something that is holding us back from pursuing the next step in our life script. But in order to do this we may need to break free from the past or from traditions that we have been holding onto for some reason.
A quick look ahead:
Saturday, 27 January - just a week after the Sun leaves Capricorn and Pluto briefly interest Aquarius - Uranus ends its retrograde phase and begins moving direct again but more importantly when Uranus makes this directional change it means that for about two months, all 10 planets in our solar system will be moving direct. Having all 10 planet being direct at the same time is rare. It's like the Universe is giving us a big, green light. There will likely be hard work involved and we will be well-advised to be ready to take advantage of this period of progress and momentum.
Use this New Moon to get better organize and be ready to PRESS GO when 27 January arrives!
