Good evening, Travelers. If the formatting of this article looks strange, it is because I am writing it on my iPad, so pardon any formatting/typo errors.
Before I begin with the New Moon in Sagittarius, I would first like to give you heads up on planetary movements happening in December through to the first week of July 2025.
In the previous Moon report, I mentioned the Mars Rx starting in Leo and backing up through Cancer. This Mars retrograde is a big deal, because it doesn’t happen often - unlike Mercury Rx, which happens approximately 3 - 4 times every year. Mars goes retrograde every 26 months (about two years) and the last time he moved retrograde was 30 October 2022 (25 Gemini) and going direct 12 January 2023 (8 Gemini) - that’s about a 3 month transit. This time the retrograde will last about 2 months. It is always a very powerful event.
The Mars Rx will start 6 December 2024 and go through until 24 February 2025 (excluding pre and post shadow phases). During this event we will likely be taking actions - and often behind the scenes - to revamp, re-attempt or renovate something that has previously been important in our lives however, at the same time we will be feeling the impact of the ongoing series of Mars-Pluto oppositions (180°) happening across the Leo-Aquarius axes. This will continue to influence us through mid 2025 and the changes we decide to make will involve facing some deep truths, exploring where we may want to use our own personal power in new ways and letting go/transforming what no longer serves us.
Venus out of Capricorn and into Aquarius - 7 December 2024 - 2 January 2025.
This may manifest in one or two ways (hopefully both):
We may feel an increased need for independence
We may more value having an intellectual connection within our relationships
Although we may love them just as much as before, others may feel that we are emotionally distant or reserved. We can tend towards more objectivity within our relationships and may be feeling an increased need for personal freedom or independence. It will be vitally important to keep open communication during this time and this will increase our chances of positive responses to our expressed needs.
Also, some of you may find a unique or unconventional attraction/relationship when Venus is in Aquarius. You may even be drawn to becoming involved in some kind of social group that has humanitarian goals.
7 December 2024 - 3 July 2025, Neptune ends its annual retrograde phase (in Pisces) and begins moving direct. Any dreams that may have been formulating during this 5 month retrograde period, may begin to manifest themselves, once Neptune picks up speed. Given that Neptune has been in Pisces (his ruling sign) we may feel an increased desire to express our compassion and spirituality in the world; but beware the FOG when Neptune moves direct - because the fog can become THICKER. Rose-colored glasses may be cute on your face, but they are definitely not a good look.
Try to ensure we are not allowing false realities nor illusions/delusions to cloud our vision when making important decisions (about anything). Asking trusted friends and family for a gut check will be very helpful.
Some personal notes: Limit your information intake. As we know, the atmosphere will become very charged due to all the changes we are about to experience. Limit your consumption of newspapers, radio and television. There will be much disinformation occurring and with AI - you may not be able to distinguish truth from fiction. Partake a little information at a time and if you think that something is amiss, check with someone whose opinion you trust.
If you start to feel ungrounded, try this trick: take 4 deep breaths, then find some wood (a desk, a doorframe, a tree or whatever ) - reach out and touch it for 10 seconds. This should quickly bring you back into your physical body and ground you.
Or this quick tip (in case you can’t find any wood): press your thumb and 2nd finger together on each hand, then interlock the two. Give them a couple of strong yanks without actually pulling them apart - and you grounded! Grounding can assist in slowing down your conscious reality so that you can make better choices and grounding can help keep you from ruminating about the past, fretting about the future and handling day-to-day stressful situations better.
New Moon in Sagittarius Highlights
This Saturday, 30 November 2024, we find the New Moon conjunct the Sun (0°) in the sign of Sagittarius. Wherever you have Sagittarius in your natal chart, the house placement will show what issues may be most influenced by this New Moon.
New Moons always provide us with the opportunity for a new emotional start in the areas associated with the sign of Sagittarius:
The higher expression of this sign includes being generous, enthusiastic, adventurous, fun-loving, ethical, optimistic and straightforward.
The lower expression can involve being self-righteous, judgmental, dogmatic, self-indulgent and/or overly-blunt.
Around the time of this annual New Moon in Sagittarius, many of us may feel more adventurous than usual and indeed, many of us may be physically traveling. For the rest of us, travel could be intellectual or “in the mind” . Either way, we may feel open to exploring new ideas, cultures or ways of being in the world, but this can also bring up issues associated with our beliefs about what’s “right” or “wrong”.
Because Sagittarius is a mutable sign, this could help us approach life with flexibility and this includes a willingness to change our minds. We might want variety and love learning new things so it is important to keep things very fluid at this time because the best solutions may require doing something that isn’t typical for us. By being willing to follow “a road less traveled” could lead us to new, exciting experiences and insights. Sagittarian energy often brings with it a sense of hopefulness and optimism for the future. This can increase our chances that we will be open to these new and novel pathways, that we can make any necessary course corrections and do it with a good dose of humor.
Supporting this fact is the New Moon is in opposition (180°) to jJupiter, ruler of Sagittarius and could enhance our ability to approach challenging situations with a positive, optimistic outlook. It may even assist us in glimpses of future opportunities for expansion and growth.
The New Moon will also be in trine (120°) to Mars which may provide us with more self-confidence and energy to take charge of a situation and courageously explore those new ideas and directions. We may even feel ready to take a leap of faith! This aspect will also give support to starting or finishing a major project but we need to be mindful of:
a) We could be learning new and/or
b) We need to maintain the ability to “shift gears” if it appears that an alternative approach might yield better results. It becomes important to remind you that both ends of the opposition (NM + Jupiter) will be square (90°) Saturn - making a t-square where Saturn becomes the focal point. This increases the influence of Saturn and although Mars can give us the energy and courage to move forward and Sagittarius can provide optimism, Saturn can present some “reality checks” in the form of delays, obstacles and challenges. Having the Moon involved could cause our reactions to anything hindering our efforts, to be emotional. Remember that most limitations are temporary and can be overcome but limitations can show us where there are flaws contained in our original plans. Limitations can be the Universe’s way of assisting us in course correction towards something even better than we could have imagined. Try not to slip into the lower expression of Saturn ( fear, anxiety and pessimism) - you should be letting go of any self-imposed doubts or limitations. Try to truly embrace “whatever comes up by using affirmations like “I’ve got this”… because you do!
However, if emotional reactions do occur, remember that Saturn is currently in Pisces - afford yourself grace and try to be compassionate with yourself and to others. Seek out moments of peace or spiritual connection.
Pluto has finally and officially entered Aquarius (19 November) and will be sextiling (60°) this New Moon. This might provide us with what we need in order to believe in our ability to overcome those previously mentioned challenges and obstacles. By tapping into Pluto’s deep reservoir, we may uncover forgotten or undiscovered information that could help clarify a situation. This could lead to deep, transformative changes that involve the letting go of outdated versions or parts of ourselves or lives, in order to clear the way for new growth and healing.
As for relationships, we need to be cognizant of a few things. First, Sagittarius can be distractingly delightful (due to its penchant for being hopeful and optimistic)…just keep in mind that he can quickly slide into the lower expression by displaying a penchant for being judgmental and a tad bit too honest ( read blunt). Now adding to this aspect Venus will be squaring (90°) Chiron AND Mercury is retrograde (until 15 December). So take it from me - because it’s happened to me several times - while you’re out having Bacchanalian good times with all the adventures, hopefulness, and letting go - just remember that the Sagittarian Centaur can quickly trip you with a hoof, swat you with a wing or shot you with an arrow. What may sound fine in your head might come out all wrong and our conversations could take an intense, potentially volatile turn. Think. Before you speak. Especially if things get heated or someone appears to be unintentionally hurt by what is being expressed.
Maybe, the trine (120°) between Venus and Uranus can save you the embarrassment, insult or injury. This aspect can help us to be willing to look at our relationships from a different perspective or be willing to try new behaviors that lead to very positive changes. In fact, we might crave something new and spontaneous, and this may result in breaking out of our typical routines. This aspect can also assist us in expressing ourselves more freely and authentically, especially if we feel the need for increased freedom within our relationships.
So go ahead and enjoy this Sagittarian energy.
To my readers in America, have a safe, happy holiday (although I believe that many of you who are traveling will be tried and tested due to weather conditions) but try to maintain a sense of humor (easier said than done, I know).
To my readers in Europe and beyond, please be kind to yourselves.
Tara, xx🙂❤️
Thanks Tara. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you Tara! Love how you express the energy of the cosmos
